Generally speaking, Slack provides a variety of tools for importing and exporting so you should not have any issues saving files and conversations that you can use later on for your work. However, there are situations when the administrator of a channel does not allow you to install the aforementioned tools due to various reasons, such as breaching privacy, for instance. Moreover, you may have joined channels that are on a free “no archive” subscribtion.

If you are in either of the situations above, but would like to have the information discussed for later on, then Slack Dumper might be a tool to try. As the developer points out, the role of the program is to dump messages, users and files from the Slack session opened in your browser. Take note that the tool currently accepts two types of inputs, namely the channel ID or the link to the channel or thread.

Before you can use the console application, first you need to open Slack in the browser and authenticate so that you can generate and grab the token and cookie from the browser Slack session. In the eventuality that you are getting an "invalid_auth" error, then you may need to get a new token and cookie by following the same steps indicated by the developer on the home page.
